Allied Carpets in administration

Following the announcement of Allied carpets going in to administration Which? Legal Lawyer Tanya Plucinski advises "Customers who have placed an order with Allied carpets may still be able to get their money back

If they have paid using a credit card or via a finance agreement for items worth more than £100 (and less than £30,000) they can claim a full refund from their credit card company or finance company under section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974.   If the amount claimed is under £100 or if they paid with a Visa debit card, they can try to claim a refund via the 'chargeback scheme' and are advised to contact their bank as soon as possible to register their interest in using this scheme.

If they have not used either of the above methods they may still be able to seek a refund by contacting the administrators enclosing proof of the order. Whether or not they receive a refund depends on how successful the administrators are in saving the company and whether or not the company has sufficient assets to satisfy their obligations.

Anyone who is currently experiencing problems with the quality of services supplied or with goods received from Allied Carpets can still have legal recourse against their card issuer or finance company under section 75 Consumer Credit Act 1974.  Alternatively, if they did not use credit they are able to contact the administrators to see if it is possible to have the problems rectified.
