Which? Legal Service enters wills market
Legal telephone advice line Which? Legal Service is to launch a will creation and checking service.
Which? Wills uses a simple but comprehensive online questionnaire to create a will tailored to people's particular circumstances. The service is supported by telephone assistance, with qualified solicitors on hand to answer any questions throughout the process. After answering a few simple questions, any people with complex affairs are advised to seek advice from a solicitor.
Once the questionnaire has been completed online, it is checked by a fully qualified solicitor. Customers receive written instructions for how to sign and execute the will, as well as a jargon-free summary of the will in plain English. Full instructions on how to comply with legal formalities and storage are also provided in a clear format.
The service, to be launched In May, is accessed via the Which? Legal Service website and will cost £89 for a single will and £129 for a mirror will.
The telephone support and will checking will be handled by lawyers at Blake Lapthorn, one of the UK's respected full-service law firms with specialist wills solicitors. Which? Legal Service will be responsible for the marketing, quality monitoring and administration of the service. The software is under licence from DPL Professional and has been modified by Which? Legal Service to create a bespoke version for its customers.
Steve Coyle, Head of Which? Legal Service Which? says:
"Too many people don't have a will - but not getting your affairs in order could cause chaos and financial worry for your family or dependents after you've gone. The Which? Wills service will offer consumers a simple way to create their will at an affordable price, with help and support from a name they trust."
